Installation

On Windows, running the setup program will copy the PC-lint files onto your hard drive.  Running the configuration wizard (config.exe) will configure PC-lint for your compiler, libraries, editors and IDEs.  It may be run multiple times if you have multiple configurations you need support for.  It will build a batch file for running PC-lint (lin.bat) and will invoke the appropriate PC-lint configuration files for your environment.

On MS-DOS and OS/2, run the install program and follow the directions.

Running PC-lint

By default, PC-lint is a console application and is run from the command line.

PC-lint can be run directly, by using a batch script, lin.bat, which is built for you by the config program, or it can be invoked from within a make file.

If you are using an editor or IDE, you may be able to set up PC-lint to run as a tool from within the IDE.  See our Version 9.00 Patch Page for a listing of the IDEs for which we provide configuration files.  If your IDE is not on the list, you will need to set up your own "env" file for PC-lint. This may just require altering the format of the PC-lint error messages to match what your IDE expects.

Pricing

A license for one PC workstation is $389

A one-location, 10 user LAN license is $3500.  Each additional user is $300.  See our PC-lint LAN page for details.

License agreement

The PC-lint workstation license agreement is a basic shrink wrap agreement.

The PC-lint LAN license agreement identifies the licensed LAN, the number of licensed users, and the authorized location.

Patches

Patches to the PC-lint software are released every few months and are posted on our Version 9.00 Patch Page.  Patches provide bug fixes and minor enhancements.  Also, configuration files are updated as needed and posted.  There is no cost for patches.

Updates

The current version of PC-lint is 9.00.

To update a PC-lint workstation license, the cost is $150 plus shipping.  To update a PC-lint LAN license, send email to "sales"  at gimpel.com , include your PC-lint serial number if you know it, and we'll get back to you with a quote for updating.

Registration

If you order online and download PC-lint, we will use your online ordering information to register your license. If we ship you a CD, a registration post card is included in your package. We use your registration information only to provide you with product update information and technical support. For changes in your registration information, please send an email to sales AT gimpel.com . Your information is never shared with other companies.
